Test Prep‍ ‍

ACT, SAT, ISEE, and more

Would you go to a driver's test without ever sitting behind the wheel of a car?

(Imagine the disaster that could take place.)

Would you take a written driver's exam without studying the rules of the road?

(Imagine the anxiety you would feel.)

When we ask students to take a standardized test without proper preparation, we increase their anxiety, challenge their confidence, and limit their potential.

The more prepared they are for the specific test, how it is written, and what it will be like, the better the testing experience will be.

TEST PREPARATION

Reduce your anxiety. Increase your confidence. Improve your scores. Improving your test scores increases the quantity of choices you have and heightens your chances of earning valuable scholarship dollars.

As a creative person with a wild imagination, I could find many ways to argue when it came to the options on a multiple choice test when I was in school. Additionally, I found it difficult to focus long enough to truly demonstrate my aptitude. Just look at my ACT scores from 1988, and you will see what I mean.

It has been a worthwhile struggle for me to learn about testing literacy and how to help students perform better on standardized tests. Since 2011, I have been helping people reduce their testing anxiety, increase their confidence, and improve their scores.

All of my clients report that our sessions help them succeed personally and academically, beyond the day of their test.

Reading & Writing Summer Support

Build vocabulary, improve reading skills, and lift up writing skills

Package Price: $1500 (all-inclusive)

This is an 8-session program that takes place over the course of 10 weeks in the summer with a schedule customized to fit your travel and vacation plans.

Ms. Martha works one : one with your student to help them develop key vocabulary, reading, and writing skills through a summer book project. Students select from a list of options that appeal to diverse readers (even self-proclaimed "non-readers"). Each session includes direct instruction, critical analysis, vocabulary strategies, prompts for student responses and connections to academic work in school. Students also develop organizational skills by initiating an arts integrated project of their choice (menu of options provided just in case) and presenting it at the end of the summer.

Level Up: Launch!

Summer Prep for College Start

Package Price: $1500 (all inclusive)

Congratulations! Your student is going to college!

With the college application out of the way, it may seem like you've crossed the finish line, and you have.

However, you're also at a brand new STARTING line. About 25% of students do not return to their chosen college after freshman year. Some of them transfer, some go back home, and some enter the workforce. Quite often, the struggles of freshman year have been too overwhelming or disappointing to keep going.

It doesn't have to be this way. To help maximize your student's success during freshman year, we offer Level Up: Launch! This is an 8 session program where your rising college freshman receives individualized coaching in the areas that most commonly lead to frustration or failure during the first year after high school graduation:

  • Time & Calendar Management

  • Executive Functioning Skills (What are they? How do I use them?)

  • Self-advocacy (communicating with professors and more)

  • Reading and following a college level syllabus & submitting work

  • Getting involved and building community

  • Real advice from real college students

These sessions take place over the summer with a schedule that flexibly responds to your vacation, work, and internship plans.
